I'm Giovani Moutinho.

I'm a software engineer from Brazil with over 15 years of experience. I started my career in fullstack and frontend roles, but eventually pivoted to focus deeply on backend systems.

I've worked across different industries like finance, healthcare, productivity, e-commerce, and legal, in companies of all sizes from early-stage startups to companies with 600 million monthly active users.

I've worn many hats along the way. Sometimes I've been deep in the code, designing system architectures and solving complex technical problems. Other times I've led engineering teams, mentoring developers and shaping how we build software together.

Both roles taught me that great engineering is as much about people and communication as it is about code.

Currently, I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Prenuvo, where I build AI-powered backend tools for radiologists. My focus is on Python, FastAPI, domain-driven design, and building systems that are reliable, scalable, and secure.

Outside of code, I'm interested in work-life balance, personal finance, and music. After a decade away from writing, I'm reviving this blog to share what I've learned along the way.
